Sustainable Enterprise Development SA – full life cycle

Sustainable Enterprise Development SA - full life cycle 1

Sustainable Enterprise Development SA (SEDSA) was incorporated in 2007, offering Enterprise Development (ED) management services in Southern Africa.

SEDSA developed and managed corporate ED concepts, programs and projects with the aim of unlocking South Africa’s potential by growing its SMME’s and facilitating the existing knowledge gap in South Africas corporate sector on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and its possibilities.

YMoS was the founding business partner of SEDSA and provided support in guiding SEDSA’s clients through a detailed process of consult, design and delivery of sustainable Enterprise Development.

The joint aim was ‘beyond compliance’ and identifying ‘Return of Investment’ opportunities within the clients’ direct and indirect sphere.

Specific diagnostic tools were developed to assess in detail the needs of every beneficiary, allowing a tailor-made development program.  High level monitoring tools to track progress of client’s projects were applied, allowing detailed reporting and ensuring transparency and accountability.

The approach to projects ranged from strategic to tactical and operational aspects of the project with a strong focus on delivery (physical implementation).

The main objective and value add provided by SEDSA is to support the competitiveness of SMME’s so that they may contribute to long-term independent sustainable growth and employment.

SEDSA were the pioneers in the field of Enterprise Development implementation and developed a wealth of strategical, tactical and operational experience during the beginning years of BBBEE.

This unique knowledge guided many corporates to set up successful ED programs, like the JD group, FOSKOR, Hollard, EDCON, NAMPAK and MERCK. Over the years SEDSA landed their knowledge in the their clients operations, ultimately allowing them to manage their projects themselves.

As such SEDSA’s developmental role in its Life Cycle was successfully fulfilled. It stopped operating their consultancy activities in 2010, and with operational programs handed over to their clients it  winded down in 2012.
