South Africa was experiencing a building boom leading up to the FIFA 2010 World Cup, hosted in South Africa. A gap for quality Sanitary-ware was spotted, while the DIY market was about to take off.
YMoS brought the Dutch Sanitary-ware manufacturer WISA and its concealed cisterns for built in water closets to the South African market in 2006 and facilitated further product placement.
A ‘special purpose vehicle’ NEWCO was set up to allow project trading and distribution to the DIY market. A supplier contract with Builders Warehouse (a later subsidiary of Mass Mart) was set up.
Besides the WISA developed built in cisterns, All-in-one pack solutions (including ceramics) were brought to the DIY market, while projects for hotels were brought through the pipeline via dedicated specifying services.
Leading up to the peak in building development, in 2009 WISA was brought into a partnership with the local VAAL sanitary-ware manufacturer, which also ended the life cycle of the dedicated NEWCO.
The concealed cisterns of WISA can now be found throughout hotels and luxury homes throughout South Africa.
